Job Title: Aquatic Field Technician

Mi’kmaq Alsumk Mowimsikik Koqoey Association: MAMKA is a collaborative management body formed in partnership by the Qalipu Mi’kmaq First Nation Band and the Miawpukek First Nation under FIsheries and Oceans Canada’s Aboriginal Aquatic Resource and Oceans Management program.
Position Description: MAMKA is seeking an Aquatic Field Technician to aid in the development, implementation, and reporting of marine and freshwater projects in Central/Northeastern Newfoundland. The position is seasonal employment (20 weeks June – October) at $800 per week. The position will require a combination of field and office work.
Responsibilities: The primary responsibilities of the position are to develop/conduct field surveys (related to marine resources, freshwater species, species at risk, and alien & invasive species, etc.), prepare reports on field activities, and develop/participate in community engagement initiatives. The successful candidate will be expected to work effectively and collaboratively in a team.
Criteria: Minimum completion of a two year post-secondary program related to natural resources, environmental sciences, and/or biological sciences. Access to a reliable vehicle is necessary.
